A judge has given a South Jersey woman 30 days to get rid of more than 30 potbellied pigs she keeps as pets. Florence Gruber of Paulsboro said Tuesday she plans to appeal the order, WCAU-TV, Philadelphia, reported. In the meantime, she is scrambling to find new homes for the little porkers before she has to start paying fines. A municipal judge ruled Monday Gruber was in violation of a 1937 law banning the keeping of pigs in Paulsboro. "We're like but these pigs didn't exist in 1937, and he said a pig is a pig," Gruber said. Gruber started a couple of years ago with two of the miniature pigs. She acquired others, and the pigs have mated and multiplied. Some of her neighbors complain the pigs have created a stench that makes outside events almost impossible. But at least one said she likes Gruber's pigs so much she wants one of her own. Gruber admits she went a bit overboard: "Maybe five or six pigs but not 30."
