PositiveSingles.com, which is an online STD dating site, started a new topic on its site. The topic went like this:“If you have herpes and are in a long term monogamous relationship, would you ALWAYS use condoms?”. It was heatedly discussed by the members on "Topic This Week" which was a unique feature provided for people to show their own pros and cons on some hot topics. According to the data of PositiveSingles, nearly 61 percent of respondents on PositiveSingles.com who took part in the discussion explained that condom use makes things safer. While other people did not think so. Members who prefer wearing condoms believe condoms can prevent asymptomatic shedding from occurring and passing any infection on their partners. Also they believe wearing a condom is a way of protecting themselves from being infected by their partners. However, 39 percent of people thought it was unnecessary to wear condoms since herpes is not transmitted by bodily fluids (blood, saliva, semen). It's transmitted via skin contact due to viral shedding. There is plenty of skin exposed even wearing a condom. For this reason, they do not think condoms make things safer. They get infected even wearing condoms. The various comments explained that having herpes doesn't mean that they will always have to use a condom in long-term relationships. Large numbers of couples that get married don't always use condoms. Herpes may be important at the start of relationships but by the time a couple gets married or is in a long-term committed relationship, the importance of herpes often falls to the bottom of the list. Research has shown that men who wear condoms reduced their risk of transmitting disease. Source: PRWEB
