Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al-Khalifa, Bahrain Olympic Committee Board of Directors Member and Head of the Woman and Sports Committee in Bahrain Olympic Committee, and Dr. Sawsan Taqawi, Member of the Shura Council thanked HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and Honorary President of Bahrain Sports Federation for Disabilities for his generous patronage and endless support to the Bahraini youth and sports movement.
Shaikha Hayat and Dr. Taqawi, on the sidelines of their visit to Khalifa Sports City Hall to watch the matches of the Fifth Edition of Khalid bin Hamad Futsal League for Youth Centres, People with Disabilities and Girls, were received by Omar Abdulaziz Bukamal the Head of the Media Office of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa and Member of the Supreme Organising Committee and a number of members of the organising committee.
Shaikha Hayat and Dr. Taqawi expressed their appreciation to His Highness for providing the perfect environment for the Bahraini youth and athletes to compete and improve their talents and skills. He said that Khalid 5 is an opportunity for the national team and clubs to discover new talents, embrace them and develop their talents.
They also commended Hisham bin Mohammed Al-Jowder, the Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs for his endless support to the youth and sports movement in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Khalid bin Hamad Futsal League is jointly organised for the fifth consecutive year by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs and the Media Office of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, under the slogan #Generations_Meeting and comes as part of the initiative of His Highness.
Launched on July 24, the league will continue until September 14. It includes three different tournaments and 59 teams that represent youth centres, local unregistered clubs, people with disabilities and girls' teams for the first time this year.
In the second day of the girls' teams tournament, Team Challenge won Team Will by a superb 12-0 score . However, Team Will overcome their loss in their second match in the day against Team Hope and won by a score of 10-0.
Team Hope qualified to the next rounds of the tournament despite their defeat in their first match. They won Team Challenge by 3-1 and guaranteed topping the first group and qualifying to the semifinals of the girls' teams competitions.
Three players were honoured by the end the day for their exceptional performances that lead to their teams' victory. The honoured players were Fatima Hussain of Team Challenge, Alyaa Jumaa of Team Will and Reem Al-Shalaan of Team Hope.
By the end of the playoffs of the youth centres and unregistered clubs competitions, the organising committee announced that Salmabad's Hussain Al-Qassab is the top scorer of the tournament so far. It also said that 60 goals were scored in the last eight matches of the tournament.
