Egpypt’s Minister of Social Solidarity Ghada Wali
Cairo - Wafaa Lotfy

Egpypt’s Minister of Social Solidarity Ghada Wali revealed that the Egyptian government will work to issue a number of legislations to support the Egyptian women during the coming period and to improve her position in the Egyptian community.

She added, in an interview with “Arabs Today”, that the woman performs a major role in the Egyptian community during the current period, saying that 90 women gained the membership of the Egyptian parliament thanks to the Egyptian constitution and elections law.

She underlined that the woman still suffers from a large number of challenges, as she suffers from increasing unemployment if compared to men. She added that they also have been paid less than the men in the different works.

She added that the woman will be strongly presented in the local councils, as she will occupy 25 percent of seats according to the law, praising the decision taken by President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi to make 2017 as the year of the Egyptian woman, stressing her aspiration that the decision will perform a role to increase the public awareness of the woman role in the Egyptian community.

She called for providing the suitable atmosphere to support the woman in the different works, stressing the need for increasing the women quota in the labor market to contain the increasing unemployment and to provide them with the necessary protection
