Vice President and Prime Minister, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, in his capacity as the Ruler of Dubai, has issued the law number 19 for year 2015, setting up the museum of future, with the aim to boost the state's innovation environment to keep pace with requirements of new generation to build smart future cities.
Sheikh Mohammed also issued the Decree number 27 appointing H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the museum of future.
The decree names Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister for Cabinet Affairs as Deputy Chairman, Other board members are: Mohammed Abdul Rahman Al Owais, Hussain Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Uhood Khalfan Al Roumi, Ahmed Abdullah bin Bayat, Hussain Nasser Lootah, Major General Khamis Matar bin Mazina, Matar Mohammed Al Tayer, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Abdullah Ahmed Al Habbai, Adil Ahmed Jawad Al Reda and Mona Faisa Al Gurg.
He issued the law number 20 for year 2015, on dirham fee for innovation. According to this law, a number of government agencies will charge each transaction, besides knowledge dirham, innovation dirham fee worth Dh10, whose proceeds will be allocated to support the museum and its projects as per a decision from the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the museum of future.
The law also set up a research institution named the Dubai Foundation for the Museum of Future, dedicated to overseeing the museum. It enjoys corporate body status, financial and administrative autonomy and necessary legal capacity to discharge its duties.
