New Delhi - UPI
India Thursday successfully test-fired its nuclear-capable Agni-II missile with a strike range of 2,000 kilometers (1,243 miles), defense experts said. The test, the latest in a series, was conducted from India's missile testing facility on the Wheeler Island in the Bay of Bengal off the coast of the eastern state of Odisha as part of a user trial by the Indian army. "The trial of the surface-to-surface missile was conducted from a mobile launcher ...," defense sources told the Press Trust of India news agency. The two-stage, medium-range missile, already inducted as part of strategic forces' arsenal for nuclear deterrence, is equipped with an advanced, high-accuracy navigation system and is guided by a state-of-the-art command and control system, CNN-IBN reported.
