President Vladimir Putin supported the idea of planning ship-building projects for 30 years ahead, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said. The current planning span for both military and civil ship-building is ten years. “The president has supported the need to expand the planning span for the whole Russian ship-building industry,” Rogozin said on Monday, July 29. He noted that this period is as close to the service life of a warship as possible. “This will allow us to save money for the country and use the defence budget more efficiently; on the other hand, this will enable us to create a fleet which will prohibit any enemy from even considering possible aggression against our country,” Rogozin added. “This task was set by the president and it will be fulfilled,” he concluded.
