The joint investments between Qatar Science and Technology Park, a member of Qatar Foundation, and the companies and foreign foundations operating in the Park worth about QR 750 million annually, Executive Chairman of Qatar Science and Technology Park Dr. Tidu Maini revealed. Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Dr. Maini said that the Science and Technology Park is currently hosting 48 local and international companies with nearly 800 employees. In less than four years since it was established, the Park has become one of the most important centers in the region and in the world as it is currently implementing nearly 100 projects in cooperation with government and non-government institutions alongside with about 20 local companies, Dr. Maini noted. He noted that the Park invests in the field of research relating to energy and environment, health, information technology and communication, which go in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030 and meet the needs of the State of Qatar. In field of energy research, Dr. Maini said, the Park has discovered new ways to extract products from oil and gas. It also focuses on the investment in the solar energy as an alternative energy source. Many of the current research in the field of solar energy will put Qatar on the world map in this field to be supplier to this technology to the world, as well as the specialized research in the protection of the environment, including green buildings, renewable resources and the use of oil and gas products, he added.
