South Korea has hit the 100 percent mark in wireless broadband subscribers with 100.6 subscriptions for every 100 inhabitants, a survey shows. Figures from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, headquartered in Paris, show South Korea topping second-place Sweden, which has 98 wireless broadband subscriptions per 100 inhabitants, CNET reported Monday. That makes South Korea the first country in the world to pass 100 percent penetration for wireless broadband, the OECD said. In the 34 members member countries of the OECD, including Britain, the United States, Japan, Finland and Sweden, the average domestic penetration percentage for wireless high-speed Internet came out at 54.3 percent, with the United States rated at 76.1 percent. Mexico, at 7.7 percent, Turkey with 8.9 percent and Hungary at 12.9 percent respectively filled out the bottom of the OECD rankings. Mobile technology and staying "connected" have become part and parcel of Korean life, where free digital terminals and Internet cafes are commonplace, CNET reported.
