Turkish Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, Binali Yildirim said that Turkey ranked on top of Europe with average time spent on mobile phones in 2012. Speaking to the Anadolu Agency (AA), Binali Yildirim said that Turks spent an average of 291 minutes on their mobile phones per month in 2012. "In 2012, Turks sent 175 billion SMS," Yildirim underlined. "The number of 3G subscribers in Turkey has surpassed 42 million. One third of this number uses mobile internet actively," Yildirim said. "Investments in the electronic communications sector in 2012 in Turkey was over 5.7 billion Turkish liras," Yildirim also said.
