China awarded 2,129 people with more than 9.3 million yuan (1.47 million U.S. Dollars) in 2011 for reporting Internet and mobile-phone pornography to the authorities, according to official sources. Four tip-off organizations, including China Internet Illegal Information Reporting Center (www.net.china.com.cn), 12321 Internet Obscene and Trash Information Reporting Center (www.12321.cn), Internet Illegal Conduct and Crime Reporting Center (www.cyberpolice.cn), Reporting Center of the National Office Against Pornographic and Illegal Publications, had handled 1.26 million tip-off cases from Dec. 2009 when they began soliciting public information to the end of 2011. The four organizations on Sunday revealed to the public tip-off channels again to welcome greater social engagement in the ongoing crack-down campaign against the spread of pornography and vulgar information through Internet and mobile media. The campaign targeted various forms of online porn, including spread of pornography through online forums, social media, smart phones, porn websites camouflaged as match-making or sex education websites. Those who have offered important tip-offs will be awarded bonus from 1,000 to 10,000 yuan.
