What is it? The latest attempt by the other Korean electronics giant, LG, to stand out from the crowd — it's the first glasses-free 3D smartphone to hit the UAE: The LG Optimus 3D. With no glasses? For real? Yes, more or less. Enjoy real 3D content and games without the need for glasses. Although 3D content, especially for smartphones, is still few and far between, the Optimus 3D is fun in that you can use it to create content with its five-megapixel 3D camera. But that's not all: you can also convert your 2D pictures and videos to 3D and vice versa. Share all of this via an HDMI to your 3D TV or upload it straight to YouTube's dedicated 3D channel. The Optimus 3D also has a dedicated 3D hotkey, which takes you directly to all the third-dimensional goodness the phone can offer. This includes games such as Asphalt 6: Adrenaline and Let's Golf and pre-loaded videos and film trailers. What are the phone's other specifications like? The Optimus 3D comes from the company's successful Android-powered Optimus line of phones. With a 4.3-inch capacitive touch screen featuring 400x800 pixels, it also has an extra front camera besides the 3D one in the rear and an 8GB internal memory with a microSB slot to expand it up to 32GB. The phone weighs 168 grams. So when is it available in the UAE and for how much? The Optimus 3D was launched this Thursday exclusively with retailer Sharaf DG and will cost Dh2,999. To promote the product, Sharaf DG also launched an Optimus 3D Gaming championship to be held at its Times Square store every Thursday and Friday.
