Chinese firms expanding presence in global smartphone market

Chinese smartphone manufacturers are seeing their presence further expand in the global market on the back of growing demand for midrange and low-end devices, industry data showed on Monday. According to the data by Strategy Analytics, China's four major handset makers -- ZTE Corp., Huawei Technologies Co., Lenovo Group Ltd. and Coolpad -- garnered a combined 19 percent share of the global smartphone shipments in the second quarter of this year, up 5 percentage points from a year earlier.
