The French Power Company - EDF - operating the French Bentley Nuclear Plant announced today (Thursday 5 April 2012) that a reactor has automatically shut down after fire alarm went off alerting of a fire incident as smoke oozed out.
The company, in a statement issued today, said that sirens went off after smoke leaked in an office building in the second production unit at Bentley Nuclear Plant, adding that safety systems worked naturally well and that the reactor has automatically come to a temporary halt, asserting that the incident did not result in any physical injuries and that the facility is intact and entirely safe.
