DOHA - Arabstoday

Featuring a fresh look and attention-grabbing content, Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF) has re-launched a webseite on Monday with a view to modernizing to increase its appeal to its audiences both at home and worldwide. The bilingual website is an important communication tool to celebrate QF’s achievement and raise awareness among local and international communities, allowing visitors to find out more about the strategy of QF and the many initiatives that fall under its umbrella. Content of the website been amended so that visitors can more easily grasp QF’s purpose and activities, and its design has been enhanced with a wide spectrum of rotating images that reflect QF’s various initiatives. The website has also been technically enhanced to allow smoother browsing, with a simple site map and an increased bandwidth allowing up to 300 million people to visit the website per hour. The website can be fully viewed on all mobile and internet devices. The easily navigable content of the site is divided into five sections. "Discover QF" includes information about the structure of QF and a detailed map of the area, while the other sections – Education, Science & Research, Community Development and Joint Ventures - give snapshots of the many centers, institutes and programs of QF. The news section lists all the latest press releases, recaps of QF’s appearances in the media, and all past issues of QF Telegraph and The Foundation magazine in flipbook format. "With the redesign and restructure of the website we aimed to increase the visual appeal and present rich, easy-to-read content rather than overwhelming visitors with information," said Ali Sikandar, Webmaster Specialist at QF’s Communication Directorate. He added that since the launch of the THINK campaign two years ago, the traffic has more than doubled – in 2009, an average of 80,000 people visited the website monthly while currently, it receives nearly 200,000 visitors a month. The re-launched website also allows visitors to spread the word on QF. Interactive options have been added to allow users to share their favorite pages with others through Facebook, Twitter, and other social media Soon, the website will add blogs on employees’ experiences at QF and live streaming videos of events such as Senior Convocation. "We have been working to upgrade all aspects of the website and are eagerly awaiting the response of our visitors," said Sikandar. "The website’s new look and content offers the best of both worlds and we hope this will help further inform audiences about the work of QF."
