Google’s new social network Google+ has hit 20 million unique users around the world, according to new figures from online measurement company Comscore. Last week Larry Page, Google’s chief executive announced that the social network had signed up its 10 millionth member, during the company's quarter 2 results call. The new figures from the independent measurement body, show that approximately 870,000 people in the UK have signed up to the invitation-only service so far, and the service has added around 10 million new users in a week. The number of unique users rose to 19.93 million during June 29 and July 19. Despite some criticisms, Google’s social network has been well received since its launch a few weeks ago. In a recent post on Google+, Vic Gondotra, Google’s senior vice-president of social, said: “Lots of criticism for Google+. We are listening and working to address. Stay tuned for changes this week.” Google remains some way behind its social networking rivals. Twitter has more than 300 million users and Facebook announced two weeks ago that it has 750 million.
