Hewlett-Packard (HP) and Box. net announced on Monday that they are teaming up to offer Box.net cloud content-management and collaboration platform on some HP business PCs. According to a joint press release by the two companies, customers who purchase HP Compaq Elite and HP Compaq Pro business desktops will have access to special offers from Box.net that include increased storage and enterprise sync for enhanced collaboration and content management in the cloud. Box.net, founded in 2005 as a college business project in a dorm room, has around 8 million users and stores over 300 million documents with seamless synching and sharing and features from Google Apps, cloud-based software Salesforce and enterprise social network Yammer. As one of the most promising Silicon Valley startups in cloud computing, Box.net has raised around 162 million U.S. dollars in funding. Its co-founders Aaron Levie and Dylan Smith were among the top five finalists in Business Week's "Best Entrepreneurs 25 and Under" in 2009.
