India’s company Bharat Dynamics Limited and Ministry of Defence have signed a contract for the supply of a large number of Invar guided anti-tank missiles made in the country under Russian license. “The contract is valued about Rs. 3000 Cr [nearly $500 million]. Deliveries are expected to be completed over next five years. Invar is a laser beam rider Anti Tank Guided Missile capable of being fired from T-90 tank. It has a range of 5 km. The missile can neutralise adversary tanks fitted with Explosive Reactive Armour Protection. BDL has been manufacturing these missiles under technical collaboration with Rosoboronexport of Russia,” the Ministry of Defence said on Tuesday, August 20. The document on the purchase of Konkurs-M and Invar guided anti-tank missiles from Russia was signed in November 2012. Invar guided anti-tank missiles are intended for T-90 tanks. Russia will supply 10,000 such missiles to India and 15,000 will be made by Bharat Dynamics in India under Russian license.
