Indonesia will host the 9th ASEAN Science and Technology Week (ASTW) from Aug. 18 to 27, to be attended by science and technology ministers of ASEAN member countries, a senior official said here Thursday.
The event, to be held in Bogor, in West Jawa province, will be filled with activities aimed at promoting science and technology relations between ASEAN and other regional organizations.
Among the events are the 4th ASEAN Science Congress and Conference, ASEAN Flagships Workshops, Southeast Asia--Europe Union (EU)-- NET Bibliometrics Workshop and Sustainable EU--ASEAN Environment Research, Deputy Assistant for science and technology international network affairs at Indonesia's Research and Technology Ministry Nada Darmiyanti said.
Nada said there will also be an exhibition that displays inventions of researchers from ASEAN countries. The event to promote science and technology was part of the regional organization's three major cooperation pillars that consisted of politics, economy and culture, she added.
The conduction of the 9th ASEAN Science and Technology Week would also be synchronized with Indonesia's Awakening of Technology national day which falls on Aug. 10, Nada said.
