Iran's aerospace industry has evolved to the point where it can manufacture indigenous satellite components. Iran Electronic Industries Executive Director Ebrahim Mahmoudzadeh said Iranian aerospace specialists are able to manufacture all satellite devices and equipment and the country is capable of manufacturing all a satellite's necessary components. "Some people still assume that we supply our needed equipment from abroad, while we have been able to acquire the latest advanced technologies despite (West's) sanctions," Mahmoudzadeh said Sunday in a Fars News Agency report. Seemingly supporting Mahmoudzadeh's assertions, a week ago Iran announced that the country is preparing to manufacture a low-altitude Earth-orbiting satellite, named Ayat -- "Signs" -- to assist in predicting earthquakes. Iran's Industrial and Scientific Studies Center for Innovation and International Cooperation Deputy Head Mohammad Hassan Entezari said the Ayat satellite would identify the seismic signals received from Earth before and after an earthquake.
