Iran unveiled four scientific achievements in the field of new energy resources in a ceremony on Sunday attended by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Vice-President for Science and Technology Nasrin Soltankhah. Iran has so far inaugurated solar power plants in 4 universities and a fifth one kicked off work in Niroo Research Institute affiliated to the energy ministry today. The Iranian scientists have managed to produce raw material for building wind turbines and the related production line was inaugurated on Sunday. The country formerly imported the raw material from foreign countries. Also home-made easy-to-use cranes for easy access to wind turbines, their installation and repair as well as a 10-kilowat fuel cell were among other projects inaugurated in Niroo Research Institute today. In the recent years, Iranian scientists and experts have taken wide leaps in scientific, medical and technological fields. In February, President Ahmadinejad hailed the young people of the country for their astonishing scientific and technological progress, and said Iran's scientific production has increased more than seven times during the last 7 years. "Iran achieves scientific productions, glory and success on a daily basis and the country's scientific production has grown 7 times during the last 7 years," Ahmadinejad said, addressing a ceremony to honor Iran's academic elites in Tehran at the time. He appreciated the Iranian young people for their efforts and achievements in technological and scientific fields, and said, "If a nation decides to make progress, God will facilitate its move."
