Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) signed the Program of Cooperation (POC) with the Indian Department of Science Technology (DST), a press statement issued by KISR stated on Thursday. The delegation led by KISR Director General Dr. Naji Al-Mutairi, signed the POC with Secretary DTS Dr. T. Ramaswami, on November 19 to strengthen scientific research and technology development between Kuwait and India, the statement explained. Kuwait Ambassador to India Sami Al-Sulaiman, Executive Commissioner for International Cooperation in Asia, Europe and Africa from KISR Dr. Nader Al-Awadhi and Dr. N. R. Bhat Senior Research Scientist from KISR were also present during the signing ceremony, the statement added. "Both sides discussed the potential areas of cooperation, the mechanism of cooperation and the timeframe of cooperation as well as the formation of a Kuwaiti-India Joint Committee responsible for implementing the POC," the statement read. The validity period for the POC will be three year and during the given time it will cover cooperation with IIT's, Universities and several research institutes across India in several fields of science and technology, the statement noted. Kuwaiti Ambassador appreciated the close cooperation and the strong ties between the State of Kuwait and India. He said the POC agreement has come soon after the recent historical visit of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah. (
