Kuwait - KUNA

Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) and Republic of Korea discussed ways to enhance scientific and research cooperation as well as bilateral relations.
KISR is keen on mutual cooperation with various prestigious scientific and research around the world in an effort to achieve scientific progress in Kuwait, Director General of KISR Dr. Naji Al-Mutairi said.
KISR has a five-year plan that seeks to form strategic partnerships with various government and private research institutions in East Asian countries, he added.
There are a number of joint research projects in oil, water and renewable energy with Japan, China and Taiwan as well as Arab world, Europe and USA scientific institutions, Al-Mutairi added.
For his part, Korean Ambassador of Kuwait Shin Boonam praised KISR's leading role in the field of renewable energy, stressing the importance of implementing bilateral cooperation agreements.
The Republic of Korea signed several agreements with the KISR in 2011, which aimed at cooperation between the two sides in the areas of research, development, renewable energy and energy efficiency, added the ambassador.
