A total of 5, 221 web cameras will be established at polling stations all over Russia on September 8, which is a common voting date nationwide, Deputy head of the Central Election Commission Leonid Ivlev said at a meeting of the commission on Wednesday. Moscow will elect a mayor and and Yekaterinburg will elect the mayor and deputies to the city Duma, account for a record number of video monitoring facilities, Ivlev said. Alexander Melnikov, a representative of the Interior Ministry, has called to ensure strict control over the video monitors. Melnikov reminded of a number of previous incidents of theft of the video monitors in the Baikal region. He urged to ensure close cooperation with the bodies of local governments for purposes of ensuring safety of the video monitoring equipment. On September 8, which is a unified Election Day in Russia, more than 7,000 elections of all levels will be held across 80 territories of the Russian Federation. Deputies to local Legislative Assemblies will be elected on 16 territories, and eight territories will elect regional governors. City mayors will be elected in eight administrative capitals; twelve administrative centers will elect deputies to representative bodies of power.
