A new smartphone app called Poacht promises to find new jobs for the already employed by discreetly distributing their information from their smartphone.
Launched Thursday for iOS and Android phones, Poacht connects with users LinkedIn profiles and allows job hunters indicate their desired salary, benefits and perks. If employers think a candidate is a potential match, Poacht users will get a message on their phone requesting an interview.
Although the Poacht user then decides to accept or decline the interview with a single tap, don't call it the Tinder of job hunting -- that already exists and, according to Poacht cofounder and CEO Maisie Devine, is not particularly special.
"When I saw [mobile job search app Jobr] was going to come out I was a little bit nervous," Devine told Mashable.
"But they just took what's on their website and threw it on their app."
Rather than be the Tinder of job hunting, haphazardly pairing any job with any person in the hopes at least one party might be desperate, Poacht is more like affair enabler AshleyMadison.com, offering a "covert job search for the already employed" that shuts out scams and recruiting agencies.
"Poacht is only getting qualified leads for companies. Not people reselling [their information]."
Want to look for a new job without really looking? There's a new app for that. http://t.co/frGTLD4amo— Mashable (@mashable) August 29, 2014
