The new prefabricated radar stations Voronezh for the Russian missile attack warning system will be created in the Orenburg region (Volga area) and in the Arctic Circle, Commander of the Aerospace Defence Forces Lieutenant General Aleksandr Golovko told reporters on Saturday.
“The work for the creation of the new generation radar have been started in the Orenburg region and trans-polar area,” he said.
Golovko said the state tests of the new-generation radar station Voronezh have been completed within the framework of the missile attack warning system creation with prefabricated technology in the Kaliningrad and Irkutsk regions. “These stations will be put in combat duty before the end of the current year for radar control of the western and eastern possible missile attack areas,” the commander said.
“By the end of 2014 it is also planned to put on trial combat duty the Voronezh radar stations in the Altai and Krasnoyarsk regions,” Golovko added.
