New York - UPI

Sony says it's entering the Windows 8 tablet arena with the VAIO Duo 11, a slide-out tablet with a keyboard that is part tablet and part notebook. The Duo 11 is seen as a direct competitor for Microsoft's upcoming Surface tablet in both configuration and price, Slash Gear reported Thursday. Most Duos will feature Intel's Core i7-3517U processor although a few lower-power, lower-price CPU options are expected to be available. RAM options are 4 gigabytes and 8 gigabytes with 128 or 256 gigabytes of storage through solid state drives. An 11.6-inch display, a stylus for input and front and rear cameras round out the hardware specs. Expected in late October, Sony is remaining mum on any pricing policies, Slash Gear said.
