US security software firm Symantec is entering the cloud data storage arena, saying its service features better security than other cloud storage offerings. The company has unveiled Norton Zone, a cloud-based file sharing service it is promoting as the most secure way for users to access, sync and share photos, videos and documents between computers, whether PC or Mac, as well as Android and iOS devices, ZDNet reported Thursday. Symantec, long involved with computer security, is positioning its service as the most secure, saying Norton Zone will provide users with "high-level, industrial-grade encryption," to protect data during transfer and while stored in secure cloud data centers. The company said Norton Zone is available as a public and free beta version for consumers in U.S. English only, while a complete international edition with all intended features will be available next year.
