The World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH) has announced its first 'Innovation Showcases' competition, giving healthcare innovators the chance to demonstrate their work in front of more than 1,000 global experts and decision-makers at the next Summit taking place on 17-18 February 2015.
'Innovation Showcase' pods were introduced at the inaugural Summit in December 2013 to provide a dedicated space where delegates could meet promising innovators and experience their projects first-hand. This year, WISH has opened the Innovation Showcase selection process in order to highlight innovations in a range of fields that have the potential to help transform healthcare worldwide.
In order to be considered, innovators with fully developed projects are invited to submit a two-minute video explaining the benefits of their product, service or digital solution. While projects in any field relevant to healthcare innovation are eligible, the 2015 Summit will focus on the seven specific challenges of: Communicating Complex Health Messages; Delivering Affordable Cancer Care; Dementia; Diabetes; Patient Safety; Universal Health Coverage; and Mental Wellbeing in Children and Young People.
Winners will be selected by Professor the Lord Darzi of Denham, Executive Chair of WISH, along with the curation team of Tim Brown of global ideas consultancy IDEO, and Bright Simons, President of mPedigree Network and social innovator and entrepreneur.
Professor the Lord Darzi of Denham, said: "The Innovation Showcases are a fantastic example of how we capture and disseminate information about valuable but previously underexposed innovations, and were undoubtedly one of the most popular features of the inaugural Summit. By opening up the application process this year, we want to inspire grassroots innovators, invite them into our global community, and give them the unique chance to attract support and investment from the individuals and organizations that are in a position to help them make a real difference to the lives of millions of people." The competition closes on 31 October 2014. To submit an application or find out more about the Innovation Showcases competition, entrants should visit the website at: http://www.wish.org.qa/2015-summit/innovation-showcases/.
