Facebook has built a new application for mobile phones that helps people using the social network to connect with other users who are stationed close by, TechCrunch reported. The new application ‘Find Friends Nearby’ will allow a Facebook user to screen and see a list of other Facebook users in their physical vicinity once he or she logs in using the same application. “For me, the ideal use case for this product is the one where when you’re out with a group of people whom you’ve recently met and want to stay in contact with. Facebook search might be effective, or sharing your vanity addresses or business cards, but this tool provides a really easy way to exchange contact information with multiple people with minimal friction,” Facebook engineer, Ryan Patterson, told TechCrunch. Apart from Patterson’s interview with TechCrunch, Facebook, did not make any official announcements about the program as the application seems to be “under construction.” Blackberry, Android and iPhone users have already tried to fully use the application, but they were unsuccessful. It said that the application is “temporarily unavailable.” The application’s address is http://fb.com/ffn on your smartphone.
