Basking Ridge, NJ -- Smart travelers about to embark on their next international adventure should know that their favorite travel companion – Verizon Wireless – just got even more travel-savvy. On Monday, April 23, Verizon Wireless introduced a new Global Data Package that offers its U.S.-based customers the best global roaming data rate on the market. For the low cost of $25 per month for 100 MB of data, when added to a domestic data package, customers can access email, browse the Web and update social networks while traveling in 120 popular overseas destinations, including Mexico; Canada; and all of Europe, South America and the Caribbean. With one simple plan, Verizon Wireless eliminates the guesswork on data usage. If a customer uses all 100 MB of data on the package, a text message quickly notifies the customer that an additional 100 MB of data for $25 has been automatically made available. For traveling customers who plan on no or minimal data usage on their smartphones or are visiting one of the other more than 200 destinations where Verizon Wireless provides global roaming, Pay As You Go rates are available and remain unchanged. Additionally, Verizon Wireless global roaming voice service is available for use on a wide variety of Verizon Wireless global-ready smartphones, tablets and data devices in more than 200 international destinations or on most Verizon Wireless phones in more than 40 countries. For voice calls, Verizon Wireless also offers a Global Value Plan. For $4.99 per month, customers can take advantage of discounted voice rates in roughly 150 countries worldwide. Occasional global roaming callers may also use per-minute rates, which vary by country. Global roaming voice and data packages can be added as needed before traveling and removed upon the customer’s return. The packages are pro-rated, so customers are advised to check with our global customer service team to ensure the right plan meets travelers’ budgets. All Verizon Wireless customers traveling overseas get the advantage of world-class, U.S.-based customer service support. Verizon Wireless representatives are available to assist and set up customers’ accounts before their excursions to ensure service is up and running when they touch down. U.S.-based representatives are also available 24/7 via a toll-free number to assist customers once they arrive overseas. Customers may visit the Verizon Wireless website to learn about all the tools and resources to help manage their wireless travel needs. The site includes a Trip Planner to assist in assessing a customer’s wireless needs before departure, and a Data Calculator to help customers estimate how much data they are likely to consume when abroad.
