The Hague - XINHUA
The Dutch railway company NS plans to provide free Internet in the main train stations in The Netherlands, local media reported Monday. While travelers could already use the Internet with their smart phone, tablet or laptop in the train, free Wi-Fi in the train stations was not yet available. NS is currently testing the use of the Internet in several main train stations in the Netherlands, such as Utrecht, Rotterdam, Schiphol and Amsterdam. "We have a deal with internet provider KPN to open Hotspots for all travelers. You don't need to be customer of KPN to use it, it is free for everyone," NS spokesman Eric Trinthamer told Xinhua, adding that travelers and commuters should be able to work in the train and at the train station. The number of free HotSpots is growing steadily in the Netherlands. Internet provider T-Mobile provides free internet to customers in Rotterdam and a small internet company called Bullseye Wi-Fi is investing 10 million euros to build a free Wi-Fi-network in 38 Dutch cities. The company planss to generate income by using an advertisement model.
