Russian News & Information Agency RIA Novosti announced the integration of a new application on its website, www.ria.ru on Thursday at the F8 Facebook developer conference in San Francisco, California. The new social read and watch function, integrated with Facebook, makes it easier for people to discover new online experiences with their friends on the Internet. "RIA Novosti reckons the new Facebook app will be actively used by web-sites and Internet users", RIA Novosti Project Promotion and Social Media Department Director Darya Penchilova said. "This is a new stage in media community development and the Internet in general. Information is getting more personalized and the new mechanisms for integrating popular social networking service into websites will help users to get the content they need." With the new social app, first integrated by RIA Novosti, users can now create a more detailed personal profile and tell more about who they are on Facebook, show what they love to read and watch on www.ria.ru. The new social app will automatically display and mark all materials that user's friends have read and seen on www.ria.ru in news feeds. The activity will not be shared unless a person authorizes an app to do so. They can turn the function automatically off at any time at any place on Facebook and within the app. "Since Facebook launched its platform four years ago, innovative companies have been transforming their respective industries by rebuilding products to be social and centered around people, and better reflecting how these activities are experienced offline," said Dan Rose, Vice President of Platform Partnerships, Facebook. "With the RIA Novosti Facebook app users can see their friends' online activity searching or reading news, it helps to discover necessary news content, discuss it and share with others.".
