Whichever way you look at it, Business Tablet Plan - the latest addition to du’s portfolio of business-enhancing plans is a novel and first of its kind solution for business customers who are always on the go within the UAE. The Business Tablet Plan combines the flexibility of a powerful iPad tablet with data bundles, available for all segments of business customers – large businesses and SMEs. “As the divide between devices for business and leisure blurs, we are seeing an increasing interest in businesses adopting tablets, hence we believe the time is ripe to come up with a business-specific tablet plan. Our Business Tablet Plan is designed to maximise productivity and cater to the mobility needs of modern businesses, whether they are start-ups or large enterprises. With the Business Tablet Plan, all business-critical applications and tools will be accessible wherever our customers are in the UAE, available through their favourite tablets,” said Fahad Al Hassawi, Chief Commercial Officer, du. There is enough evidence and research to prove the growing demand of tablets: As per Forrester research, since the launch of the iPad in 2010, more than 200 million tablets have been sold worldwide. Compare this with the laptop which went from 2 million unit sales in 1990 to just 29 million 10 years later. According to a new forecast from the International Data Corporation (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly Tablet Tracker, tablet shipments are expected to grow 58.7% year over year in 2013 reaching 229.3 million units, up from 144.5 million units last year. IDC now predicts tablet shipments will exceed those of portable PCs this year. Gartner analysts said enterprise sales of media tablets will account for about 35 percent of total tablet sales sold in 2015. These sales will not be clearly defined as enterprise purchases. Gartner expects enterprises to allow tablets as part of their buy your own device (BYOD) programme. Tablet adoption is increasing among corporate tech buyers. In 2012, ChangeWave Research polled a group of business IT buyers and found that 22 percent of them planned to purchase tablets for their employees sometime in the second quarter of 2012. Of those, 84 percent say they’re likely to buy Apple iPads. From: Al Bawaba
