I have been going to CES for several years, and Microsoft has always had significant presence there. They always have a huge booth that is located at the entrance of Central hall, and you literally can’t miss it. This is going to change. This change will not occur at CES 2012, but at CES 2013. Microsoft has recently stated that “We won’t have a keynote or booth after this year because our product news milestones generally don’t align with the show’s January timing.” I can’t say that I blame Microsoft. After all, they are a company so big that they can just announce something via the Internet, and it will be the biggest tech news by the end of the day. It reminds me another company that rhymes with “dapple”, who I have never seen on display at CES. I guess that if you are a billion-dollar company, you don’t have to plan your big announcements around the biggest consumer electronics trade show at the beginning of the year. Of course, there could be another reason. I saw the movie 2012, and how these big millionaires were investing in these giant ships to protect them from the great disaster. Yes, that is why Microsoft isn’t planning anything for CES 2013, because there won’t be a 2013. All right, I’ve had my fun. If the big M does plan to go out with a bang at CES 2012 with a huge announcement, I am sure that we’ll cover it.
