London - Arabstoday

What is it? We live in a touchscreen world. So after Apple and Microsoft, it's time for Swiss peripherals maker Logitech to jump into the touch mouse fray: Enter the M600. So what's special about it? On the face of it, the M600 looks pretty much like its contemporaries — perilously close to Apple's Magic Mouse, if you ask me. But interestingly, it is only compatible with Windows 7 (pre-empting a Magic Mouse comparison, Logitech?) and comes with no Mac OS support. But unlike the Magic Mouse, an included software will let you select a left-handed or right-handed user profile. It's also designed for people on the move, because, first, Logitech says it's made to work on any service and, second, there are two AA battery slots to power it up. What's cool about it is that you can opt to use only one battery (if you want it to be lighter) or two at a time. The wireless mouse connects to your computer via a mini receiver USB dongle that can also take care of an additional five other wireless Logitech products at a time. When travelling, the dongle can be snugly packed into the mouse's backside. Of course, the genesis of Logitech's idea is that we use so much touchscreen in our lives now that it's only fair to incorporate that aspect in computing. The entire surface is touchable, and, as the company says, "feels like the touchscreen on a smartphone". Swipe, scroll or download extra software to access more on-screen navigation options. When is it available and for how much? The Logitech Touch Mouse M600 is now available in the UAE for Dh299.
