Total deposits of the banking system, other than the deposits of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), increased by EGP 15 billion to reach EGP 2.138 trillion in July 2016, compared to EGP 1.123 trillion in June 2015, the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) said on Wednesday.
In a statement, the CBE said that the government's total deposits reached EGP 358.5 billion, of which EGP 261.8 billion are local currency deposits and nearly EGP 97.7 billion are in foreign currency.
The non-governmental deposits upped to reach EGP 1.779 trillion in July 2016, compared to EGP 1.761 trillion in the previous month, the statement added.
The non-governmental total deposits in local currency amounted to EGP 1.44 trillion, it said.
While the non-governmental total deposits in foreign currency amounted to EGP 330.6 billion, the statement added.
