The European Central Bank (ECB) has decided to continue to rent one of its current buildings, the Eurotower, to house its supervisory staff, the bank said in a statement on Saturday. "This decision means that the ECB will maintain its link with the Eurotower in Frankfurt, together with the large euro symbol in front of it, which has become something of a landmark not only for the ECB but also for the city of Frankfurt," the statement said. The new ECB premises, designed at a time when the supervisory tasks had not yet been envisaged, is currently under construction in Frankfurt's Ostend district. It will not have sufficient space to accommodate the 1,000 or so additional staff needed for the ECB to carry out its new supervisory tasks.
