Vietnam's Ministry of Public Security (MPS) on Monday announced that its police investigating agency has prosecuted a criminal case with involvement of five former leaders and officials of local Dong A Joint Stock Commercial Bank.

Specifically, two former Dong A Bank leaders including Tran Phuong Binh (57, former deputy general director) and Nguyen Thi Ngoc Van (46, former deputy general director) faced charges of "deliberately acting against the state's regulations on economic management causing serious consequences and violating regulations on lending activities of credit institutions".

Meanwhile, the remaining three officials of Nguyen Duc Vinh (50, former director of Head Office Treasury), Do Thanh Hung (38, former Head Office Cashier), and Le Kien Giang (39, former Head Office Deputy Cashier) faced charge of "deliberately acting against the state's regulations on economic management causing serious consequences," said the MPS on its website.

The five suspects have undergone searches at home and office, and were taken into custody. They were brought under Special Supervisory Board of the State Bank of Vietnam and suspended from their positions in August 2015.
