The National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) has appointed Nilanjan Ray as Head of Commercial Banking - Gulf. Mr. Ray manages NBAD's extensive banking products and services offered to small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) and commercial clients through Commercial Banking Hubs and select branches. Mr. Ray has over 15 years banking experience, especially in commercial banking. He joined NBAD from Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) where he was the head of the Business Banking Division. Prior to ADCB, Mr. Ray worked for ICICI Bank in Bahrain and India, HDFC Bank and IDBI Bank, both in India. "Nilanjan Ray is an accomplished and well-regarded banker whose profile includes strong financial accomplishments, product innovation and devising and implementing strategies that strengthen SME and commercial banking. We are confident in his ability to make NBAD the bank of choice for all SMEs and commercial clients in the country and across wider NBAD footprint in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries (GCC)," said Abdulla Bin Khalaf Al Otaiba, the Senior General Manager of Retail and Commercial - Gulf at NBAD. Commenting on his appointment, Mr. Ray said, "NBAD has the right strategy to help nurture entrepreneurial spirit in the country as well as capitalise on international commercial businesses operating in the UAE and GCC This is why I am so excited to work at NBAD and lead the growth of Commercial Banking. We will continue to expand NBAD's outreach to entrepreneurs and growth businesses." Mr. Ray holds a Bachelors of Science in Economics from Calcutta University and Post Graduate Diploma from IIFM.
