US voices confidence in European banks

Recent stress tests on European banks have brought "transparency and clarity" on the health of their balance sheets, a US Treasury official said Wednesday. "The European banking authorities and national supervisors have been very clear about their commitment to ensure a capital cushion in those banks," said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity at a news briefing.
