The World Bank is financing 13 projects designed to improve the people's livelihood in Tajikistan with an active portfolio of 220.6 million U.S. dollars, the Tajik Ministry of Economic Development said on Monday.
The largest share of the portfolio is in agriculture and rural development, followed by energy, healthcare, education and social protection.
The priorities of the WB's activities in Tajikistan are to reduce extreme poverty, promote common prosperity, and expand opportunities for the private sector.
Tajikistan joined the WB in 1993. Since 1996, the WB has provided 955 million dollars in credits, grants and trust funds to improve people's livelihood in the Central Asian nation.
