Commercial Aircraft Corp. of China (COMAC) and the US aviation Giant (Boeing) started cooperation in producing aircrafts’ bio-fuel from the waste cooking oil. COMAC and Boeing recently opened in Beijing the Boeing-COMAC Aviation Energy Conservation and Emissions Reductions Technology Center, a collaborative effort to support commercial aviation industry growth. The two companies also announced that the Boeing-COMAC Technology Center’s first research project will explore opportunities to refine waste cooking oil, into sustainable aviation biofuel. The Chinese company Qingdao for bio-energy technology development said that 20 tons of refined oil from waste cooking oils were exported to the Netherlands in order to be processed into jet fuel by Sky NRG company, the supplier of biofuels in the Netherlands. Sky NRG in July finalized a deal of importing 10,000 tons of waste cooking oil from china. It already received 2000 tons as the first trench. China is expected to use 12 million tons of aircraft biofuels by 2020, being 30 percent of the total aircraft fuel consumption in the country, according to the Deputy Director of the Civil Aviation Administration of China, which consumes 22.5million tones of cooking oil annually.
