Managing Director of Iran’s Jam Refinery Rahim Eslami announced that the capacity of gas production in his refinery has considerably increased. “Jam refinery is currently producing a total of 125 million cubic meters (mcm) of gas per day,” Eslami said, addressing a ceremony in the Southern province of Bushehr. He also reminded that Jam Refinery produces 27 percent of Iran’s need to gas. Jam refinery is located in the Pars Special Economic Energy Zone (PSEEZ) 300 kilometers to the Southeast of Bushehr port in Southern Iran. The PSEEZ was established in 1988 for the utilization of South Pars oil and gas resources and encouraging commercial activities in the field of oil, gas and petrochemical industries. South Pars gas field is a natural gas condensate field located in the Persian Gulf. It is the world's largest gas field, shared between Iran and Qatar. According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), the field holds an estimated 1,800 trillion cubic feet (51 trillion cubic meters) of in-situ natural gas and some 50 billion barrels (7.9 billion cubic meters) of natural gas condensate. In January, Managing Director of Iran’s Offshore Oil Company (IOOC) Saeed Hafezi said the country’s newly discovered oil and gas fields in the Persian Gulf have the capacity to attract more than $15 billion in investment.
