Tehran - UPI

Natural gas exports from Iran to Turkey have resumed after workers repaired a section of a pipeline damaged by an explosion last week, a regional official said.A blast early Friday struck a natural gas pipeline near Maku, which is near the Iranian-Turkish border, cutting gas supplies to Turkey. The report indicated that responders were able to get the blaze under control and extract excess gas from a broken pipeline section.Hamid Ahmadian, the governor of Maku, said repairs to the damaged pipeline section were completed during the weekend and gas supplies to Turkey have resumed, the official Islamic Republic News Agency reports. There were no claims of responsibility for Friday's attacks. Turkey and Iran, however, have been fighting Kurdish militants in the border area. The pipeline has a natural gas transport capacity of around 1 billion cubic feet per day
