Managing-Director of Iran’s Gas Engineering and Development Company Ali-Reza Gharibi expressed Iran’s readiness to start delivering natural gas to Pakistan in December 2014 as agreed by the two countries. Gharibi told Shana that Iran has heavily invested in the construction of the gas exports pipeline to Pakistan. “In the event of serious action from Pakistan [in building the pipeline], Iran is ready to accelerate the construction of the Iranian side of the pipeline,” he said. “Iran has fully met its obligations for the implementation of gas exports [project] to Pakistan,” he added. Gharibi said 907 kilometers of 56-inch-diameter pipeline has been laid from Assaluyeh in southern Iran to Iranshahr in southeast. He said nearly 320 kilometers of pipeline is needed from Iranshahr to Pakistan.
