Participants in Kuwait Conference of Chemistry (KCC) discussed the chemistry of oil industries through a number of work papers submitted by experts and specialists. Professor Saad Okasha, of the Arab Fund for Social and Economic Development, said prosperity and development of Kuwait was because of production and manufacturing of oil. He said oil revenues made Kuwait a modern country and contributed to scientific advacement. Director of Environment Consultations at the Environment Public Authority (EPA) Ali Al-Nasser said environmental laws played a major role in the protection of environment specially in oil countries like Kuwait. Laws are important in protecting marine environment from oil slicks, said Al-Nasser, who emphasized that environment laws in Kuwait needed periodic improvement to cope with climate changes. Chemistry Professor at Kuwait University Mohammad Al-Najdi organic chemistry industry was one of the key industries in the modern era. But it started causing pollution which then forced the discovery of the Green Chemistry.
