The National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC) will start distribution of clean fuel in Tehran as of next week, the mega city which is suffering from high level of air pollution, the company's chief said. NIOPDC Managing Director Mostafa Kashkouli made the remarks in an interview with Shana adding that currently 8 million liters of clean fuel are being distributed in Tehran each day, making up 70 percent of the total gasoline consumption of the city. All gas stations of the capital start distribution of clean fuel as on next week, on Saturday, Kashkouli said adding distribution of the product has already started by all the gas stations in Karaj and Arak cities. Replaying to a question on supplying fuel to power plants, NIOPDC’s chief said: cold weather raised fuel consumption by power plants to 143 million liters per day. According to the official, power plants have used about 24 billion liters of liquid fuel over the course of current Iranian calendar year since March 21 2013, up by 24 percent against corresponding period last year. Kashkouli assured that enough gasoline has been stocked for new year (Norouz) holidays which begins March 21 and is expected to raise gasoil and gasoline consumption hugely due to rising road trips across the country.
