An oil pipeline exploded in Tel Kalekh in the province of Homs by a subversive group, Syria's official SANA news agency reported on Friday. The news agency noted that an explosive device was used to blow off the pipeline, causing a 15-diameter hole in the ground and oil leakage. Homs governor, Ghassan Abdulal, said that at 4 a.m. an explosion was heard near the oil pipeline leading to Banias province. "The incident was a terrorist act," he noted, explaining that the sabotaging group chose a pipeline near agricultural areas in order to cause great damage. He further said that measures to contain the leakage are being underway to prevent oil from spreading out to the nearby green fields.
