Qatari LNG producer RasGas has claimed that it will overhaul Qatargas to become the world’s largest LNG processor by 2015. Speaking to the Qatar News Agency, the company’s managing director Hamad Rashid Al Mohannadi claimed that RasGas will be handling 11bn of cubic feet per day (BCFD), or the equivalent of 2m barrels of oil, when its Barzan gas project is completed in three years times. The official news agency reported that Al Mohannadi made the comments at RasGas’s third Supply Forum which recently took place in Doha. Fellow Qatari processor Qatargas is currently the world’s biggest LNG firm, producing 42m metric tonnes of LNG per year.
